ArcGIS
9.0 is the next major release for the ArcGIS system. ArcGIS 9.0
will extend the current platform with major new capabilities in
the areas of geoprocessing, 3D visualization, and developer tools.
Existing ArcGIS users with current maintenance will automatically
receive the ArcGIS 9.0 update at no additional charge. ArcGIS
9.0 will be available in the spring of 2004.

New Developer-Focused Products for ArcGIS 9.0
ArcGIS Engine—ArcGIS Engine is a powerful collection of
embeddable mapping and GIS components for creating and deploying
custom GIS and mapping desktop applications.
ArcGIS Server—ArcGIS Server is a GIS enterprise application
server that provides complete GIS capabilities (such as mapping,
geocoding, spatial queries, editing, tracing, and linear referencing)
throughout an organization while maintaining a centrally managed
database.
