ArcGIS Survey Analyst Provides Storage and Management of Survey Data in
a GIS Database
Survey Analyst is an extension to ArcGIS that is used
to store and manage survey points, measurements, and computations. Survey
Analyst allows survey professionals to work with and maintain survey data
within the ArcGIS environment.
Survey Analyst manages the relationship between the control network and
the GIS data and represents this using link lines and error information
on coordinates. The data that comprises the control network can be a collection
of observations from field notes, survey equipment, and data collectors.
Over time, feature geometry can be incrementally improved through the
Survey Analyst work flow.
Using ArcGIS Survey Analyst, surveyors can easily incorporate their measurements
and calculations into GIS databases to serve as a control framework for
the various departments and applications within in an organization.
Why
Use ArcGIS Survey Analyst?
Survey Analyst provides tools to support organizations where surveyors
and GIS technicians work together in an integrated system. ArcGIS Survey
Analyst allows you to
-
Improve work flow where survey data and GIS data are closely related.
- Add
new GIS features based on surveyed locations.
- Maintain
survey data within ArcGIS in a structure that complements the project-based
work flow used by surveyors.
- Integrate
survey measurements using observations from field notes, survey equipment,
and data collectors into a GIS database.
- Manage
and process survey data with a set of comprehensive tools.
- Compute
raw observation survey data using computations such as traverse and
least squares adjustment.
- Create
custom importers and tools using a standard development environment.
- Improve
spatial quality and evaluate the accuracy of existing features based
on surveyed locations.
- Incrementally
improve feature geometry quality by linking survey features to GIS features.
